dumplings, dumplings, dumplings!

Dumplings, also known as jiaozi (餃子), are a staple of Chinese cuisine and have been adapted around the world in many forms and recipes. With a history of nearly 1,800 years, they are often said to have originated during the Han dynasty. Growing up in a northern Chinese family, making and eating dumplings was a weekly tradition. I still vividly remember my grandmother’s steaming pork and fish dumplings, fresh from the boiling pot. As a northern Chinese foodie, I believe the best dumplings are homemade. The chewy texture of the wrappers and the freshness of hand-chopped meat and vegetables are things store-bought dumplings simply cannot replicate. Making dumplings as a group is also a wonderful way to share love with others by creating a delicious meal together.
